The smut was decent, but not good enough to prevent me from almost leaving the book unfinished (no pun intended) on multiple occasions. Smut is just cheap word porn without a captivating story, and that is, unfortunately, what this was. A 24-year-old hedge fund manager? Please. No one in their right mind would trust someone with an underdeveloped frontal lobe with that kind of wealth. And Russell? Massive ick. Controlling, anti-feminist “nice guy” who assumes responsibility of “protecting” a woman’s virginity? Turn off. Overall, the writing was juvenile and cringey, frequently using words like “dickhead” and “fucktastic” like a preteen boy who just discovered how to use cuss words. I could have written a better story in the seventh grade. Shocked that this author is on any kind of bestseller list.

Ugh. I read Tessa Bailey for an okay story and good spice. The spice in this book was just... ick. The constant discussion of Abby's virginity was off-putting and I simply cannot stand any part of Russell's personality. The best part of the book was Abby leaving him. Unfortunately, they got back together and immediately got engaged . Hated this book, may break up with Tessa Bailey altogether.
Moderate: Misogyny
