Not one of my faves of his but overall a decent read. I think it dragged in a lot of spots and the plot just seemed too unrealistic, especially the choices the female character made.

Huge disappointment.. this story whould work great as a short story, but as a novel it just dragged and killed the tension.. also the characters in this story felt very flat and one dimensional.. it didn't grip me at All, the writing style felt repetitive as well..
I gave it 2 stars because the ending was well written, most of the book was boring tbh, i I don't care about the characters its hard to get involved in a story.

For ages i could find no empathy for any of the characters, and the story didn't enthral me. It wasn't until halfway through the book that I started to enjoy it. Chyna is a worthy hero.

I used to read Dean Koontz YEARS ago - in middle school and high school. I remember loving his books, but was hesitant to pick one up again. Were they something I had “outgrown?”
NOPE!
This was exactly the suspense/mystery/thriller I was looking for. While there weren’t any kinds of big twists (in my opinion), trying to map out the next steps was a great puzzle for my mind. It looks like I am back to reading more of Dean Koontz!

This book made me think a lot about people who are in position to negatively or affect people’s lives. Presidents, police officers, senators , etc.
The killer really makes you think. The heroine makes you want her to succeed. You find yourself saying no, just save yourself.
I really liked this book.

I tried… but nothing about this book worked for me. Yes it does put you right into intense situations but - most of the book is telling, not showing (“they were this kind of person” instead of an actual scene ) Mostly internal thoughts of 2 characters who were just being defensive and assured of their actions throughout. 2 stars because I do understand why it’s a consumable book, but execution was poor.
