This just spoke to my book-loving heart! I love how a dusty, old, cluttered room of books brought characters together in this one. I so related to recommending books to people based on my interactions with them and the stories they tell me along with the blind date with a book idea to get customers through the door. Then combine books with baked goods? Be still my heart! The perfect vacation read for me for sure.

A prequel to Legends and Lattes, we get more of a backstory on Vic's story and career. Cozy adventure riddled with mystery and heartwarming friendships, all the same. I enjoyed following Vic and meeting some new characters from Murk.
Satchel is my favorite but Fern and Potroast are a close second. I love how Vic although a badass mercenary is kind and just wants to help others. Enjoyed the read and can't wait for the next!

“Because I’m headed down the hill, and you’re headed up it. I’m just glad we chanced to meet on the way.”
“You do something for years and years, and the only reason you continue is because once you stop, you won't really have anything.”
“See you in the story past the story.”

Throughly enjoyed this book, it’s nice to read fantasy that isn’t another ‘kingdom on the brink of ruin’. Characters are very loveable and the plot is sweet and comforting. Yeah okay the ending killing the necromancer and saying goodbye is a little bit rushed but for me it doesn’t take away from the story as a whole
