Do you like thrillers? Are you a fan of stories that mess with your mind and make you question whether you've been paying attention well enough to truly know what is going on? This book was every bit as mind-blowing as All the Missing Girls, but it wasn't related so I'm not sure why it's being called AtMG #2...

I just recently got into Miranda's books and I loved All the Missing Girls but this one was just okay for me. I found myself skimming through some of the pages just to get to the ending.

I enjoyed the plot of this book and how Miranda slowly revealed the event that caused Leah to move. I like that age mixed the past with present.

An enjoyable read. Quite fast paced with enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes but not lose track.

This was so gripping and such a fun listen! I couldn't work out where it was going - it was a wild ride and I loved every second.

Unlike most reviewers of this book - I had not read All the Missing Girls first. This was my first MM book, so I had no basis for comparison - which is likely a good thing. I liked this book. I didn't particularly like any of the characters, but for this story likeability wasn't necessary. The characters were developed enough for me to get vested in their actions, and that's what mattered here. I liked the story enough that I stayed up way past my bedtime reading. The fact that it hooked me that way almost got me to 3.5 stars, but not quite. And why, you ask, did a book that kept me up at night not rate higher? Well for one thing, there's nothing wrong with a 3-star rating. According to GR, that means "I liked it", and I did. I just didn't REALLY like it - which brings us back to why... I think it's b/c I wanted more. While the dribbles of backstory that MM provided along the way kept the story moving, they were always vague and unsatisfying. Because of this I think the story kept me awake more out of frustration than enjoyment. I feel like MM touched on many things without delving into them. Because of this, the story overall felt ....smudgy?... fuzzy?... I wanted more clarity/precision.

So overall, and entertaining, quick, suspenseful read that left me wanting more. As I said, my first book by MM. I'm not sold on her just yet, but will definitely give her another try.

Had potential but was kind of a flop. It wasn't horrible but not amazing either.

This is the second book by this author and I really like her stuff. She slowly reveals the story and characters and keeps my attention until the very end.

I haven’t read All The Missing Girls yet, so my review of this author is unbiased. This book hooked me from the start. I loved how details were unraveled slowly, and how real all the characters felt. But there was so much electricity and suspense and dread throughout the novel that I was expecting a big twist at the end, and when it didn’t really come it felt anticlimactic and disappointing. So I’m knocking a star off for that, but I read the book in 2 sittings and would still recommend it as a great thriller!
