Some books should only be stand-alone... This may be the case for one! Please be sure to find out more in my spoiler-free review. https://youtu.be/KSy8Ua3dz0k

a very ambitious sequel to the well loved six crimson cranes. perhaps too ambitious.

the plot felt muddled with too much going on, and yet still dragged. details got lost. the non-love-triangle thing felt pointless and frustrating (and tbh the entire ai-long arc felt pointless by the end too). i remember thinking the writing felt more middle grade than young adult, although my opinion on that did change towards the end of the book.

that all being said, i still liked this book well enough. i did cry at the end and in the last 100 pages i struggled to remember what i didn’t like about the book.

This sequel was good, but I like the first one better. A wonderful duology.

Round up from 3.5⭐️ liked the overall storyline. Felt a little chaotic. Found myself ready for the story to be over about halfway through.
