Oh, how I love Jessica and Marcus! I liked this better than Sloppy Firsts. There was more Marcus, more interesting plot developments and it was fun. I could see this book making a sweet, funny romantic comedy.

I initially read this book when it was released when I was in high school, and feeling very Jessica Darling in many ways. Re-visiting the book in my thirties was a delight and an interesting reminder of what it was like to be a teen, lacking the wisdom and experience I have now.

At the same time, I was a little put off by Jessica many times in this book due to her self-absorbed nature, but again, I remember how small my worldview was at that age. I also was not a fan of how many things were changed in this version to "update with the times". There were moments when I actually took out my original copy of the book because I could tell words had been changed. In some cases, I understood. Some words are no longer appropriate, but at times it seemed bordering on censorship.

My recommendation to anyone interested in the Jessica Darling series would be to read "Sloppy Firsts" and "Second Helpings" and then stop. Although 3, 4, and 5 are artful pieces of literature, they seem to forget the audience to which our heroine appeals.

I really, really liked this book! A very easy and quick read, it is definitely better than the first one in this series (though I liked that one a lot too). Can't wait to read the third one!

All I can say is: Why did I not read these sooner? They inspire me in so many ways.

What a darling book! This laugh-out-loud-while-your-heart-is-breaking follow-up to "Sloppy Firsts" was everything I'd hoped it would be. I think Jessica Darling is a female character that every young woman (or older woman) can look up to. She doesn't date a vampire or start a war with the Capitol, but she is honest and smart and good.
