Another important book. We have an amazing skill as humans to reduce dissonance. And this is not a skill that should be vilified by itself. It can act for good and bad. And helps us to function as imperfect people in the world.

But I think understanding this system is essential for being a human who can admit mistakes and function with maturity in the world. This book should be required reading for all humans.

5.0 stars.

Great book! Makes you reevaluate your own self justifications. Very eye-opening. Worth reading if you're open to admitting your own faults.

another long read for me. the authors split up the book into 3 main parts, but like after part 1 i feel like I kind of already got the hang of it (as these types of books usually go). most of the book was very tedious to read and felt redundant.
nice to know all the examples and research they put out for us readers though.

Interesting read about the enticement of and propensity toward self-justification that we all have. More importantly it also offers ideas of how to avoid this unhealthy way of thinking.

Really boring in some parts, but some chapters were very interesting, especially the one about relationships.

This book talks about cognitive dissonance in a way that's easy to understand, and tells us how to be more mindful of our own dissonance so we can better respond and act in the world.

This book has made ma aware of how I bullshit myself about some of my actions and opinions and has forced me to stop and realize the truth that was obvious all along, at least in cases where I was aware of the dissonance.

Thank you, authors; although it is a bit uncomfortable, it well worth it.
