I love Philomena Cunk and this book delivers on everything I expect from Britain's foremost documentarianist - it has just enough factual substance that it genuinely delivers some correct information but if you have even a slight understanding of history, politics and religion you will find the version of logic in the deviations almost inspired. The comedy is clever and consistent, making for yet another excellent addition to the Cunk archives. She's a genius.
Yet....not one mention of pump up the jam. Disappointing.
If there aren't uni lecturers out there setting exercises on "write an episode of Cunk on..." I would be amazed because it really blends academia, social commentary and unhinged dry humour perfectly, which would really improve he experience of marking essays.

Starting my year strong with this one, literally laugh-out-loud funny

Would be cleverer if it didn't try quite so hard to be dumb. There are plenty of funny points and apt satirical observations, but the laugh-to-joke ratio is really watered down by inconsistently goofing up every single proper noun (for example).

I love Philomena! She's amusing, and I really enjoyed listening to her and her one-liners! A fun read.
