Première Decamerone was een succes. Heb ik dit hele boek echt gelezen? Ja. Het is wat het is. Best leuk voor de 14e eeuw.

Holy shit that took a long time. I decided to read a story per day, which would take 110 days. Halfway through, I took a month pause, then came back and read two to five stories per day to finish.
Please, English readers, read the modern (Rebhorn) translation. The earlier ones that follow the original Boccaccio leans more towards Chaucer than Shakespeare in its level of unreadability.

Zum zweiten Mal gelesen. Kann nicht sagen, dass es inhaltlich besser wurde, aber die Form wurde 100 mal mehr appreciated. Danke Boccaccio, dass du uns die Prosa geschenkt hast!

A great sickness has blighted the land, many are dead and more dying every day. A group of wealthy young people decide to leave the city for a country estate, where they regale each other with stories and merriment until the situation improves. Sound familiar? The city is Florence, not New York, and the date is 1348.

This book was a fun read at first, but I felt that the stories got repetitive around day 4 and then it felt boring and tedious.
