I read this for the Pop Sugar 2015 Reading Challenge category "A book set during Christmas". To me it was a slightly more grown up version of Ruby Redfort and Artemis Fowl. At least it was short and super easy to read.

I usually don't read the "in between" novels, but had easy access to this one so I read it. Nothing spectacular.

"It's five days before Christmas and things are not looking merry for Fugitive Apprehension Agent Stephanie Plum. She hasn't got a tree. She hasn't bought any presents. The malls are jam-packed with staggering shoppers. There's not a twinkle light anywhere to be seen in her apartment-and there's a strange man in her kitchen. Sure, this has happened to Stephanie Plum before. But this guy is different. He's mysterious, sexy-and has his own agenda. His name is Diesel, and he's on a mission. The question is, what does he want with her? Can he help her find a little old toy maker who has skipped out on his bail right before Christmas? Can he survive the Plum family holiday dinner? Can he get Stephanie a tree that doesn't look like it was grown next to a nuclear power plant? These questions and more are keeping Stephanie awake at night. Not to mention the fact that she needs to find a bunch of nasty elves, her sister Valerie has a Christmas "surprise" for the Plums, her niece Mary Alice doesn't believe in Santa anymore, and Grandma Mazur has a new stud muffin."

For someone who's supposed to be a good guy, I HATE how Diesel acts - how he invades Stephanie's space, belittles her need for safety and security in her own home, as well as how he treats Briggs. And I know that this book is a bit dated, but I really hate the way little people are presented as a joke. It feels particularly insensitive in this book. Also, I'm less into the fantasy elements in this series. I didn't hate this book, I still love the series, but this one isn't my favorite. It IS pretty fun holiday reading, though.

Short and cute novella, a bit strange lol. Take Stephanie Plum meets superhero’s and evil villains and that’s what this is but also make it Christmas themed. Still a fun read.

2.5 stars. I didn't like this. I wouldn't necessarily have minded how rushed the story was and how little detail was given (as that is usually the premise for an in-between story). But I absolutely did not like the inclusion of supernatural stuff all of the sudden. It was awkward, it didn't make sense and it did not work with the way the story progressed before that.

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

Christmas is a season of joy and miracles. And if there ever was a woman that needed a miracle, it is Stephanie Plum. And she is about to meet hers. Enter Diesel from the Lizzie and Diesel series. He has arrived to make sure Stephanie has a Merry Holiday. But unless she can catch a fugitive toy maker, she may be singing the holiday blues.

Visions of Sugar Plums is Janet Evanovich's Christmas novel featuring Stephanie Plum. The hardcover edition that I read was published by St. Martin's Press, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers. In this little bundle of joy readers were introduced to Lizzie Tucker's better half, Diesel. A magical individual known as an Unmentionable, Diesel can get into any locked place and appear without warning. And he has the uncanny ability to force his wicked charms onto people. With four days to Christmas Stephanie is looking for a fugitive skip who may or may not be Santa Claus. Diesel is on the scene to help Stephanie, whether she likes it or not.

This short novel lasted under two hundred pages and was a lot of fun. Fan favorite Randy Briggs also returns, as does Stephanie's zany family. Unexpected pregnancies. Lost false teeth. Attack elves. And a whole lot of Christmas magic usher in Christmas in Trenton for the Plums. Even though it did start out a bit slow, it picked up quickly making me feel closer to the season. There were a couple of reveals that moved the book along to a an ending that was filled with Christmas cheer.

Lorelei King returned to read the audio book with a little extra charm and twinkle that lit up the book like a Christmas Tree. Her voice work was often laugh out loud funny. Any book read by her is always a good time. When it comes to narration Lorelei King is Queen.

In the end Visions of Sugar Plums was a rousing three star read that was Christmas fun. I love this series. It always makes me smile. This is a great book for those who want to read a holiday tale, but do not want a long book. Enjoy.
