On a re-read. Maybe it's just my current frame of mind... or maybe it was my frame of mind a year ago when I rated this a 3 star read. It is now definitely down to 1.

I truly disliked everything about this. I didn't like the characters... or the changes to the characters over the series as it had progressed. I really didn't like either Marc or Olivia. I thought she was ridiculous to be so hung up on a 6 year age gap... if she had been a bloke it wouldn't have even been mentioned. I don't like the whole 'dating' thing. So, she went out with Rancher Bill 3 times and got to 3rd base with him. I'm not judging here... but... it's just not very... nice... especially as she was the one to say that she wanted a committed relationship... personally, Rancher Bill sounded like a better bet than 'revolving bedroom door boy' Marc...

I wish she had stayed in Atlanta and found a brand new life for herself... after all, she has already shagged the only 2 unmarried Chase brothers... and it seems everyone else in Petal has too.

One of the things I like about this series is that it really shows how a relationship develops over time, with weeks and even months passing in between interactions and events. I think it's realistic for how real relationships might evolve, especially when (like this one) it's friends to lovers, or one person isn't sure about entering into a relationship. In this case, Liv has dated one Chase brother, but now it's a few years later and her friendship with younger brother Marc has taken a turn towards romance. She's sure she wants a long-term relationship, but he's not. He takes some time to think about it and then decides to woo her. (the word "woo" is used A LOT.) It's a charming romance and a slow burn. Maybe a little too slow for me, but nevertheless, a realistic portrayal of the baby steps some take on the road to love.

Chased is the third book in Dane's series about four hot brothers living in Petal, Georgia. I've enjoyed each of these books and definitely enjoyed Liv and Marc's story. I liked Marc and thought Dane did a great job of having him show Liv that just because he was younger than her didn't mean they couldn't be great together. Liv was a character that I could identify with - what modern woman doesn't have concerns about being independent while still wanting a great guy for the long haul? Chased was a great addition to the series.

An intense read! I loved how committed Marc is and how insightful. He is attentive and saw how deep Oliva's pain was buried. And he never gave up. I struggled a little with liking Olivia at times, but learning the depth of her pain helped. Overall a great book I know I'll come back to.
