I'm pretty sure I've seen at least part of an animated version of this book, but I don't know. I enjoyed some parts of this novelisation, but then there are others that I didn't. The build-up through the ten days before Joker's escape mostly. I understand that some parts of the comic this was based so weren't translated or something like that. The section focusing on after Joker's escape was more interesting to me. Felt sorry for Barbara and Zach mostly, for obvious reasons, and I thought Suzi was an interesting character.
DNF - got about half way through but just didn't grab me like Harley Quinns novel. This was a bit too all over the place for me, with less focus on any backstory or build up about the characters. It very much makes assumptions one knows who is who and what is what.
There didn't appear to be a central protagonist (a combination of all the bat family instead in that main characters place) which probably hurt my want to keep reading it. Probably better to stick with the comic for this one.

I liked how the authors expanded on story, but the writing was just so juvenile and without depth. I wasn't expecting some sweeping literary epic. But I would've liked for it to have been above a high school reading level.

This book is for sure dark. This is one of the stories I say you should check the content warnings. Even if that kind of stuff doesn't make you freak out (in a bad way).
Graphic: Gore, Mental illness, Torture, Kidnapping
Moderate: Drug use, Murder
Minor: Pregnancy

I enjoyed this book. It was an ok read.
This follows Batman as he and Commissioner James Gordon go to talk to the Joker but find out that he has once again escaped Arkham Asylum. They are also dealing with a new drug as well. Batman and Batgirl are trying to take down Maxie Zeus who is trying to take over Gotham by trying to be like Zeus and all of this somehow connects to this new drug as well. This also connects with how the Joker escapes Arkham Asylum to hurt Barbara and James.
I really liked the graphic novel that this book is based on. I liked how they did the story.
I really enjoyed all that happened and the characters a lot.
The main problem I had with this was that sometimes I had to reread some of what I just read to understand what was going on. There were somethings that I had to read again before I fully understood where the point of where I was in the story.
I did like what these authors added and how this new drug , the giggle sniff, connected to the Joker Venom.
I liked how they did get the Joker out of Arkham, it was interesting.
Overall it was just an ok read for me.
