Oh my. This one was a challenge to get through, but I will give it that it had a lot of interesting ideas and a unique perspective, plus I did feel like it it was worth reading all the way through, but it is not a book for me. I'm certain I'm not the target audience by far. That being said, I did enjoy it way more than the film version (which you can hear a spoiler-filled discussion of it over at Before the Dawn with my buddy Marina).

tal vez haya sido la traducción, no es muy mal libro y me intrigó pero no es de mis favoritos

"It had the kind of banality that reveals itself over time as being truly brutal" (8).

I'm not sure how to feel after reading this book. It's certainly interesting... although I found I couldn't read it in large chunks, which is why it took me almost 4 weeks to get through it. Eric Packer's inner monologue is bizarre. I don't think there's any other way to describe it. I am very intrigued to see how they will make this into a movie, as that monologue is a very large portion of the book.

Petered out towards the end but I'm intrigued enough to be looking out for the film in the future. I couldn't help thinking that DeLillo was projecting too much self awareness onto his city boy anti-hero mind

An interesting reflection on post 9/11 existentialism. Plot is a bit dry, but the writing is great and the ideas important.

As usual, with DeLillo, I found myself re-reading paragraphs and only caring about characters half of the time. Imagine my amazement when I got hooked in the last 70 pages. I appreciate loose ends actually being tied up for once and sone great existential ideas to think about!

Pretty topical read for the moment. This should be on Mangione's goodreads.
My first Delillo and not likely to be last - big fan of his recurring din of the postmodern, the what, the futility of nomenclature etc.
