I was hesitant to try another of Agatha Christie’s attempt at an international crime thriller, after the weak attempt that was The Big Four, but I liked this! Lots of interesting characters and funny banter with some cute moments.

Written in the 1920s this is the first book in which we meet superintendent Battle. I did enjoy this read. It was one of Agatha‘s classic spy/espionage/murder mystery novels. It was a little hard to keep track of some of the characters and the story , but I enjoyed following the story of Anthony Cade, one of the main characters as he interacts with Superintendent Battle. Cade is a bit of a rogue, with his own back story. Battle is a character I’m glad we see more of in the future.

There is a reason why Agatha Christie is the best-selling novelist of all time! Plotting was perfect, characters were delightful.

No és cap genialitat de la literatura però és un bon llibre per llegir quan tens un bloqueig de lectura… hihi! Molt enginyos, aniré a buscar alguna altra novel·la de la Christie a la biblioteca, això segur!!!

It took me quite awhile to get into this one, but once I did, I really enjoyed myself!
The beginning felt slow, with a lot of set up. Once we got to the murders, it got a lot more interesting to me. I loved the main characters and the romance. And even though the feel of the book was different than some of Christie's other books (more thriller than murder mystery), I had a lot of fun with it.
Overall, another fun Agatha Christie book, though not my favorite.

So many great Agatha Christie books to read - this is not one of them.

Reread, probably 3rd or 4th time. I love this book. Virginia Revel is my idol.
This might be my favorite Agatha Christie.
Yes, there is a murder, but this book is more of a mystery and a thriller.
I like Agatha's books because even though they are mysteries, they can be read and reread again and again without much of the excitement disappearing.
