I love my slow cooker but I do not love pouring canned soup over everything. With that taken into consideration, there were only a few recipes that appealed to me. Also, beef plus condensed mushroom soup does not equal beef stroganoff. But having a few new recipes to try made it worth the read.
A very bare bones cookbook with a bunch of uninspired, insipid looking excuses for recipes.
Great ideas for slow cooker meals. As I mature in my food choices, this book isn't sufficient. Need to be updated with cleaner eating style menus
One, I don't give 5 stars. Two, I got this from the library. Three, I made the mac and cheese on page 80 and omg! Four, I'm probably going to buy it because I've tagged 7 more recipes I want to try, before reaching the dessert section!
I found a few dozen recipes worth trying, so I am pleased overall. There were several handy tips and tricks sprinkled throughout, but many repeated or even contradicted one another: "When using fresh herbs you may want to experiment with the amounts you use..." vs "Beginner cooks should always measure carefully" vs "Don't be afraid to experiment and make changes in recipes." I enjoyed the recipes I got to try from the first volume of this series, so I'm looking forward to the same quality. It might take a few years before I try them all, though.
I liked a lot of the recipe suggestions but I was really hoping for a book with more crock-pot recipes and less stove-top.
Found this gem at my local library. I tabbed almost 20 recipes out of 600. I feel like she could make a flavorful book. You know, one where they actually use more seasoning than just salt & pepper.
There are many things that annoy me about this cookbook. The most annoying thing is that the author/editor includes several recipes for the same thing but with (sometime very) slight alterations. I mean honestly, do you really want to figure out which of 5 beef stew recipes is the one for you when the ingredient lists look fairly similar? I found maybe 3 or 4 recipe that look useful to me. I hate that there are no pictures- I like to see if what I'm cooking is looking at all like it should. Also- if the picture looks good, then I'm more tempted to try the recipe. I'm glad I checked this out at the library and didn't buy it. I certainly won't be buying it!
