Amazingly sexy !!

Karina Halle has created a story that gives new meaning to the term "friendzone" . I really loved this story . I started this December 30 . & ended it the next night . Really , what a way to end the year huh ?! :)

Stephanie , James , and Linden are best friends . And yes their friendship wasn't believable at first in the terms of best friends . Only thing I could think of is how difficult it could be to create a story of friends turning lovers but trying to still hold onto that "they were friends first" part of the story . Karina totally creates it here . It came off as a strong friendship so you can feel their bond towards each other later when the "lovers" part of the story approaches . & goodness , there certainly was a lot of loving !! :0 I couldn't get enough of reading about these two . Linden is so great !! Book boyfriend category material he definitely is !!

If you're looking for a quick , sexy , steamy story ?? you definitely won't be disappointed with this !!

This is a friends to lovers romance and man the angst in the first half of this book. I actually preferred the first half of this book to the last half. In the first half we get the will they want they back and forth and I was loving that despite really wanting them to finally get together. The last half is where they finally get together and the way they went about it really didn't sit right with me and I really pretty much hated every single side character. I know you are meant to cheer for the hero and heroine but I hate when the authors make every other boyfriend/girlfriend horrible. Like why? I loved the characters together and I enjoyed reading this but it didn't fully work for me.

Cute Read

This book was easy to get into and the characters were really likable. I will possibly continue series in the coming year.

Friends to lovers

This is my first book by Karina Halle and I loved it. This story in particular gutted me as it hit a little too close.
Based on other reviewers, many people felt somewhat angry that the relationship went the way it did, but I think that the progression felt real and the reasons behind it justify it as well. Anyway, this was a good read, albeit painful for me but beautifully written with a happy ending.

Enjoy

The Pact has it all! It’s fun, sexy, wonderful, emotional, and brilliant. I identified so much with Stephanie on so many levels, and I feel like as a 26 year old this book was written for me. It was a wonderful snapshot of what life is like for us almost 30 year olds (and god do I feel old even writing that).

Stephanie and Linden are absolutely adorable, and I was surprised that we got little snapshots of their life in between the pact and when things changed. There were so many personal achievements that each of these two made on their own, but they glowed when they were together. I liked that these two circled around each other for years, it was nice to finally see 2 people who are friends first make that step instead of just plunging in. There is a definite disadvantage, but I think it makes the intimate relationship that much better when you’re best friends first and that holds true even for fictional characters.

I think I was supposed to like James by the end, but I just didn’t. His explanations and reasons don’t matter to me, he was a selfish jerk. I know he has his reasons, but he let them define him. One of the things I loved about Stephanie was she had this sick brother, but she is still herself despite that. She chooses to be a good person and not to let her childhood define her for her entire life. James did, and I am entirely unsympathetic to his issues. He is a 30 year old man, get some freakin’ help and stop almost ruining everyone’s life. That being said, I saw his flawed logic and I know emotions are messy and it’s not always easy to separate them from reality. I’m glad that they all came back together in the end, and everything worked out.

If you know me by now, you know this book is getting 5 stars. I’m still waiting for Karina Halle to fall short, and every time she puts out a new book I get excited and apprehensive. I’m waiting for the shoe to drop, and her to churn out something really terrible but it just hasn’t happened yet. I hope she keeps writing from her inspirations because so far she hasn’t missed the mark!
