Susan May Warren is one of my favorite authors, so I was extremely excited when I saw that she was releasing three new novellas this summer! The first story, Light My Fire, was great. It's a quick and fast-paced read that was hard to put down. Warren packs a lot into this novella. There's a ton of action, intrigue, and anxiety inducing suspense, along with a nice bit of romance too.

The Jude County Smokejumpers are in Alaska helping put out a fire. With the blaze spreading fast and no other teams available to send their aid, prisoners from the local jail are sent in to help put the flames out. Things are going fine, that is until the prisoners escape and take one of the smokejumpers hostage.

I really enjoyed revisiting the Jude County Smokejumpers. Even though this new series is connected with Warren's Montana Fire series, it stands alone just fine. I highly recommend it for anyone who's looking for a good, clean romantic suspense. I can't wait for the next installment.

Series review on Faithfully Bookish

With overlapping timelines, non-stop action, and sweetly steamy romance, this series is the perfect summer binge-read! New readers can jump right in with this series while fans of Susan May Warren’s Montana Fire and Montana Rescue series will reconnect with familiar characters.

Warren excels in crafting genuine, authentic characters, vivid story worlds, and intricate adventurous plots with foundational faith themes. While these three stories are tightly connected, each installment also has its own conflict or crisis and resolution, leaving readers eager to dive into the next book without the use of a cliffhanger ending.

If you’re fascinated by the ever-present Alaskan summer sun (like I am) then you’ll especially enjoy this smokejumping crew’s heart-pounding adventure! This is a series I plan to reread time and again and I highly recommend it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Set in Alaska with a character from MN (who showed up in MT) = all my favorite Warren worlds. Another suspenseful and adventurous novella!

Novellas: road trip coping mechanism. These served as a nice distraction.
