Dedication To Murder
Book 9 in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series
by Lauren Elliot
From the publisher:
Oh, bother! In the riveting new mystery from the USA Today bestselling author Lauren Elliott, a first edition set of Winnie-the-Pooh books throws Beyond the Page bookstore owner and rare books expert Addie Greybourne on an investigation into her family’s past.
Wedding bells are about to ring again in Greyborne Harbor, and as Addie slips into her white dress her thoughts are focused on a bright future with Dr. Simon Emerson. But a discovery in her attic leads her to startling revelations about the past. As the owner of Beyond the Page Books and Curios and a lifelong bibliophile, Addie is delighted to find a rare collection of classic children’s books gathering dust in a secret room beneath the rafters, including a first edition of The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. To her surprise, a handwritten inscription on the title page provides a clue to unraveling a complex mystery in Addie’s family . . .
But that’s only the first surprise in a series of shocking twists that will turn Addie’s vision of where her life is going and where she’s come from upside down—including a suspicious death in the present that suggests foul play.
My thoughts
Wow. This book took off in directions I didn’t see coming. Everything Addie thought she knew and was sure of is questioned, throwing Addie off-kilter. These new revelations shatter what she thought she knew about her family and her past, but also fundamentally changes her future. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I have been reading this series since the beginning and this was not my favorite. The book was well written and the mystery was good. However Addie was not likeable and I was disappointed in the way her romance was handled. There was no joy or fun in this book. The book ended on a cliff hanger which I did not like. I did not enjoy this book as much as the previous ones.

*Spoiler alert*
Oh man, Connor and Addie, it will be interesting to see what happens next between the two of them, part of me is hoping they don't get back together with Simon being as dim witted as he is at the end of this book. I like that there were multiple mysteries being solved in this novel and all of the intersecting parts of the story.

Waited to read this til it became available in libby/overdrive and oh my stars...this, by far, the best book yet in this series. There were quite a few surprises that happened that had me gasping in shock. I cannot wait to read book 10 when it becomes available.

4/5. The most recent installment in the Beyond the Page Book Store Mysteries absolutely did not go the way I thought it was going to! The mystery was top notch as usual. There are two separate murders that get solved and the way they both weave throughout the story is very well done. The personal/character side of the storyline is where everything completely derailed. I was left feeling kind of empty by everything that Addie went through and I'm really interested to see where the author takes her next, because at this point I have literally no clue.
