I liked the book but I personaly found it a bit too evil to the point where I was scared of the main charcter. However the story is good and the writhing is even better.

It's not my cup of tea, but I can try and appreciate the story and writing. Both were good to a point, but it left me feeling gross. There was a depressing number of times someone was described as fat in insulting detail. Every time a woman was described, it was about how sexy she was or not. The only black character didn't even have a name. I kept on wanting to cheer for the main character, and then he'd disappoint me again. Maybe that was the point, but it made me feel like a parent with a naughty kid.

The first books of Mark Lawrence I read were the Impossible Times series, and despite not liking time travel, I loved these books. He had diverse characters that weren't all men. The plot was well thought out, and it had a great ending. I would suggest reading those books instead.

Not a fan. I like grimdark but Jorg was just a smug sociopath. The story was bland and took a turn in the last quarter that felt less like a twist and more like bad planning.
