We continue to follow Morana and Tristan. They are now on Tristan's turf and they work to figure out the twisted world of their families while navigating their new relationship.

Honestly, I have the same complaints as the first book. It is incredibly repetitive. WE GET IT! He has beautiful blue eyes and sounds like whiskey and sin. Care to repeat it for the thousandth time? The writing isn't really great. There is a whole lot of telling instead of showing. ALSO... I am not a fan of 3rd POV, so there's that.

The story line could have been really interesting and this book could have been really good with more editing and revising. As it was the twists were pretty obvious.

I think Dante is the most interesting character of the 3. I am tempted to continue the series just to read his book.

I did appreciate the development of Tristan's character and how he communicated in more than just grunts throughout this book. I think the short timeline of his character's progression and emotional awareness was pretty unrealistic.

Morana continued to be very idealistic and naive.

So mobsters not believe in therapy? Could be helpful. Just saying.

Tropes: enemies to lovers, mafia, found family

I loved it.
It was the perfect “conclusion” for Morana and Tristan journey.
(Even though it remains some dark spots in the story - to be continued)

You can see a really improvement in the writting between the first book and this one. It is also a good surprise and it added a real + to my reading.

This time Morana and Tristan made more sense and they fit together better. Plus everything wasn't so repetitive.

Morana Vitalio had caught Tristan Caine off guard. He finds himself divided between his traumatic past and an uncertain future after spending his entire life with a commitment he violated on a rainy night. Is that all he knows? He still has control over her life.

The boundary between adversaries and comrades has blurred for Morana. Everything she ever treasured has crumbled, and the unknown stares her down, leaving her with both her freedom and her life on the line in enemy territory. What is the only thing she knows? His life has always been hers.

With twenty years of history connecting them, Tristan and Morana embark on their quest for the truth together. And they discover that the disappearance of the girls is only the tip of the iceberg.

Character and plot-wise, I believe The Predator maintains its high quality. I appreciated how the mystery factor kept me guessing. I was flying through this book and had to force myself to put it down or otherwise I'd miss the characters too much.

I still don't like RuNyx's writing style, but it has clearly improved. I liked this novel better than The Predator, as well as the epilogue. I think this is one of the greatest epilogues I've ever read. However, I think Tristan was overly possessive at times. But, other from that, I'm really enjoying this series so far and can't wait for Dante and Amara's book.

Although I love all elements of this story, I found the ending to be oddly out of place. And rushed. Characters felt a little out of character as bizarre as that sounds and it almost felt like a cop out. I'm relatively satisfied with how it ended and how it marks the completion of Tristan and Morana's journey but the story is yet to be concluded with the mystery then falling onto the next book. With Dante. I'm excited.

Again. Super thrown off by how well written this is and not the kind of dark romance plot I was expecting either. Felt decently structured and engaging.

perfectly executed plot, character development, and just the right amount of smut. i'm still just as obsessed as i was with the first one in this series. 0.5 star gone bc it was a bit slow halfway through but the ending paid off <3
(side note: what the fuck was that ending too???? 10/10)
