My friend loaned me this because she felt like I'd enjoy a housewife/assassin story. She was right. I had a great time reading this and flew through it. We love the violence and the mid-century aesthetic.

My one complaint would be that it ended on a cliffhanger! And it's over! Boo!

A 4.5 rounded up. A super fun time!

I devoured it in one sitting.

It's pulpy, gory, and over-the-top. Happily, it has just the right amount of dark humor and cool twists to keep me fully immersed and entertained.

Josie Schuller skillfully balances her cheerful domestic bliss with her coldly efficient assassinations. She's skilled at killing people and finds genuine enjoyment in her job. However, being both a good housewife and an efficient killer can be quite tricky. This delicate balance is put to the test when her employer begins to doubt her abilities and makes a decision that sets off a chain of events that makes her go freelance :)

Mayhem and bloodshed ensue.

It was a solid 4 stars but I didn’t really like the ending?? It feels like it’s so abrupt there should be more to it or another volume to follow up!

Overall I had a fun time reading/watching this murderous housewife go on rampage after rampage. I kept showing bits and pieces of it to my boyfriend as ~inspiration~ (lol jk I’m not a murderer)

"Perseverance is key. The price of success is hard work, so that whether you win or lose, you can be proud that you have applied the best of yourself to the task at hand."

Josie Schuller: a mother, a wife, a homemaker, and an assassin. Her husband has no idea that in addition to cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, and hosting his sleazy boss, beautiful and ruthless Josie is also excellent at stabbing and hammering people to death. A 1960s housewife is the perfect smoke screen, because who could possibly think that these women are capable of something like that?

Jones's art is the cherry on an ice cream sundae. Combined with Allred's and Madsen's color work, it captures the time period perfectly with a great color palette and lively action scenes. The story isn't always perfect, but it proved itself by withstanding a re-read. Hopefully the series will continue at some point, but until then I'll just love this vibrant collected edition. There's also a movie in the works!

For all the gals looking for more women serial killer rep.

Josie isn't technically a serial killer, she's a skilled hit(wo)man trying to live a double life as "loving 50s housewife" and "dangerous killer." A woman trying to have it all!

Everything about this graphic novel was so well done! The art is so crisp and cinematic. Frame by frame I can totally see this being adapted into a miniseries. And so much work went into it too, from the outfits to the backgrounds to the fight scenes, there is a load of detail to enjoy. I seriously can't get over how gorgeous this book is!

Beware of blood though. This book censors nothing! So if you're thinking you can stomach a little bit of gore but not a lot this might be one to steer clear of. However, if you have a strong stomach go for it!

The story was great too. Nothing too revolutionary but enough surprises to keep me intrigued. Overall this was seriously amazing! Never thought I'd be cheering for a Lady Killer but there you go!

I would watch this movie.
Interesting exploration of 1950's housewife and autonomy - along with a killer storyline.

I mean, I couldn't stop reading it today. The artwork is stunning and I loved the setting, the story, the characters, and especially Josie! She's a deranged assassin who enjoys her job a little too much but that's why I love her. I think there is more so I might need all of them. This book combines two volumes.

Pretty solid and brutal comic. I like the art quite a bit - definitely feels like a 50s comic with a pulpy vibe to it. I enjoyed the story line. It's been 'done' before, true, but it's still an interesting concept that is fun to see how it plays out.
