CW/TW: Violence, death

- The plot was okay.
- The plot was very engaging. I couldn't put it down.
- America is still "not-like-the-other-girls"
- Drama, drama, drama
- I think Kriss should have been with Maxon. America was too wishy-washy about it.
- Aspen and Lucy were so cute together
- CELESTE IS REDEEMED

DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE BOOK IN THE SERIES (the main trilogy at least). I absolutely adored it. it made me cry :( for the sad moments and the super fluffy ones. and I just loved it so much.

I love Maxon. if my future mans isn't like him, I don't what it.

also... Celeste... loved her so much. I absolutely hated her in the first two books but this one made me love her so much :(

Aspen... I didn't really like him in the beginning of the series for some reason... but he REALLY grew on me. I had moments in the previous books where I disliked him and then liked him and then disliked him again but I loved him throughout this entire book.

this book also had at least two moments that made me gasp so hard, (in one of them I actually screamed "what the f*ck" on the train station while waiting for my train, so that was fun and totally not embarrassing........)

I’m rereading all my books, and I think I might be too gay for this now. I liked it more than the previous two, though. I find America pretty unlikable and a lot of the conflict outside of the politics is just her not using her brain. However, I do like the character development Ms. Cass finally bestowed upon Celeste
even though she ended up dying in the end.

Despite this, I still can’t help but think she was struggling with some internalized misogyny which honestly checks out for the time in which it was written. It threw me off when America was like
“Of course my father is a rebel! My name is America!”
because, as I said in my The Selection review, their world is not very different from ours at all. Also, it keeps catching me off guard how little representation is in this. I suppose I got spoiled.

Whew, what a wild ride...
It feels weird, like there happened too much in the last few chapters and then on the other hand not enough. Where's the explanations for nearly everything that happened in the end?
What did the rebels want to achieve with that last attack? August and Georgia? Why was America's father a rebel? Why the deaths in the end?

This review sums up everything I'd say about this book.
