Helt okej. Har hela tiden en känsla av att jag vet hur allt hänger ihop/vad som ska hända så det blir aldrig superspännande eller någon wow-upplevelse.

Usually this kind of crime thriller isn't my kind of book but I was hoping Marked For Life would still be interesting, unfortunately it wasn't really. I can appreciate it was well thought out but it just wasn't for me.
I enjoyed how the backstory of Jana was introduced slowly but it was still a little predictable. The crime story itself with the child trafficking and drug dealing was disturbing and also interesting. The criminals in this story also made me always second guess my trust with them which added a good element to the book. The other characters like the police officers though were quite boring to be honest as I wasn't interested in their lives. I found myself feeling distant from them all and not really caring what happened to them.
Overall it was cool to read a translated story but I didn't find Marked For Life anything special.

Marked For Life is the first book in a trilogy featuring public prosecutor Jana Berzelius. The head of the Migration Board has been found dead in his home. With o shortage of suspects, the last thing the investigators expected to find was a child’s fingerprint, especially as the deceased doesn’t have any children.
Berzelius is brought in on the case, and the normally calm and cold prosecutor is left reeling when a young boy is found dead a few days after the first murder. Dredging up memories long forgotten, Berzelius is dragged into an investigation for more dangerous and close to home than she was expecting.
Marked For Life is an interesting start to this trilogy. It introduces the reader to Jana, but it also sets the scene for a much larger story. In Marked For Life, they deal with the horrendous subject of human trafficking, and the repercussions of the investigation are numerous and far-reaching.
I really enjoyed Marked For Life. I do love books that are set in Scandinavian countries. This one has a great storyline, interesting characters and it kept my attention while I was reading. It also leaves the door open for the next book in the series. I am looking forward to seeing where the author goes with it.

This plot driven story was hard to put down. Set in Sweden, this crime mystery novel was gritty, disturbing and suspenseful. Jana Berzelius was complex, sympathetic and engaging. It's a shocking story of the underworld of human trafficking from Jana's personal perspective. It's a story of coming to grips with a personal darkness in the past, putting it to rest, and then continuing on into to the future. I look forward to reading the next installment in this series and Jana's development.

Ich habe 3std vor Schluss aufgehört und mir von Audible das Geld zurück erstatten lassen. Das Buch trieft nicht nur vor Stereotypen und überholten Storylines, es ist auch schlicht und ergreifend unglaublich langweilig!
