Much commentary on various political issues and historical perspectives. Some insightful.

I've been meaning to read Chomsky for a long time and this collection of transcribed talks primarily from the 80s did not disappoint. I could barely believe these were discussions - Chomsky's breadth of knowledge and command of detail is phenomenal. Really enjoyed this read, though I constantly felt the temptation to dismiss his political theory as leftist, anti-American radicalism. But this 1980's eccentric diagnosis of capitalist irrationality and the consequences of unchecked corporate power structures have proved out so acutely and completely that his warnings are as relevant as anything written today.

Got the recommendation from Aaron Swartz at his blog way back when. (RIP): http://www.aaronsw.com/weblog/epiphany

I think his review sums up my feelings about the book pretty well. Everyone should read this book (and it's a very easy conversational read)

First contact with Chomsky. He managed to put words on so many ideas I've been feeling.
Conferences up until 1997 but his predictions about Climate, Extremists, 2016 Election, Internet have been on point so far.
Bleak yet hopeful. What a journey. In the end, his ideas are not important, just starting to think from first principle is the key to seing the world as it is: Humans have not achieved true democracy yet.

All of his stuff is great. This book helped me understand why countries dominate others. It’s a fascinating read.

Inquietante e spaventoso.
