This book was a combination of a magical, mystical story and frontier homesteading. It is haunting and I will be thinking about it for a long time to come.

I loved diving into this atmospheric story. Jack and Mabel quickly captured my heart. It was lovely to see them grow individually and as a couple over time. I understand that all of the hunting and animal death serves a purpose in this story, but I still didn't enjoy reading about it.
