I have mixed feelings about this story, and it's mostly because of Ali. Now don't get me wrong I love a female character who stands up for herself and takes nothing of BS from people but there were some points in the story where she just kept pushing and pushing about wanting to know about what her brother was involved in even though it was a national security and where she just put herself in situations where there were danger but i loved the storyline and the POV of both Ali and Nate it was a bit annoying when the POV were switched to one of the other characters but still it was a good book

I really liked it. A very good read. I fell in love with some of the characters and my heart hurt for their losses. The story was a little predictable and repetitive. However it was a little sweet, a lot hot, funny and with some suspense on the side. I really enjoyed it

So I tried again and still couldn’t bring myself to shut off my logical brain to finish this.

I’ll be moving the series to ‘Not interested’, quite disappointed

Who falls asleep in the back of a motorcycle????

So we have loud bikes while trying to do missions….that are unique that someone tailing you just has to get a look at you on it to know who to follow……

Please explain again how these are highly trained men???

The prologue really grabbed my interest and I thought this would be the book to break my bad streak

Just one chapter later and I was bored, it skipped ahead so much but so little happened.

Then the immature behaviour around panties....panties for God sake

But the choppiness of the story, the feeling of incomplete scenes before jumping to a new section. The push/pull of the relationship development is driving me insane and destroying my joy of reading.

4 stars. I liked it, there were some parts that were like "really?" but overall, I was pretty into it. I thought the secondary characters were fantastic and I'm looking forward to getting more of them. There was some really painful moments in there. I so love soldier and marines...sigh...Nate was wonderful, loved him. Ali...well, mostly I liked her, she wasn't weak, but was admittedly naive, but not in an annoying way or anything. She did throw up a lot...I mean, jeesh...she was kinda killing me. She cried a lot, too, but given the situation and time frame of dealing with her brother's death, it was understandable. I would have liked a little more "steam"...who am I kidding? A lot more steam!!! But the book although pretty long, went by quickly, it didn't get boring, although there were a few parts that I felt like could have been edited out. Overall I enjoyed it and will continue with this series.

I was looking up Laura Kaye because I wanted to re-read one of the Hard Ink novels and I came accross this book and once I read the synopsis I was hooked. It had action, amazing characters, it had sexy times, it had everything that I wanted. I immediately started to binge read as many as I could and after 3 books Im not disappointed

This book was pretty terrible. Still, I felt oddly compelled to finish reading it, which is why I gave it two stars rather than one.

The characters in this were not particularly well-drawn, and the dialogue really annoyed me. How is it that the male characters were consistently swearing a blue streak, but the women said things like Yepper and oh mu gosh and crapola? So basicall none of it was believable to me since it seemed like some sort of 1970s fantasy world about how men and women interacted.

Also, there were a lot of errors in this text that a decent copy-editor would have eliminated, things like investing where the author clearly meant investigating and so forth. It made it a lot harder to read the text because some bits of it straight up didn't make sense until you started to think 'what did the author mean to write instead of what they actually wrote?', which you should never be thinking with a published text.

Honestly, forgettable and not very good. Skip it.
