This book was intense, intriguing, and at times, terrifying. There's an over-arching feel of being watched that fits perfectly with a book about stalking. And while I really enjoyed reading it, I could've done with a less predictable ending. Sure, there were twists (though I did guess about the kid). And the assassination Red Herring came totally out of left-field. But it felt rather underwhelming when, at the end, the culprit was the crazy stalker everyone had been so worried about at the start. It may have seemed like he was misunderstood but it was kind of disappointing to have the first suspect really be the killer.
That being said, I can't wait to read other Kathryn Dance books (and to decide if I'm Team Boling or Team O'Neill).

I'm not really into these Kathryn Dance novels. I don't know why but they just don't excite me as much as the Lincoln Rhyme ones. You know the novel is wanting when they stick Rhyme in it near the end to give the book a push.
Plenty of twists and turns, but a lot of the writing could’ve been skipped altogether. A good rainy day or beach read.
I picked this up from the bargain table at Barnes and Noble. It is the third novel featuring Katherine Dance. I have not read the first 2 though I did read the Lincoln Rhyme story she is in and she was in one of the short stories I read recently. I don't like her as much as Lincoln Rhyme but maybe because I can always picture him as Denzel Washington and I don't have a clear picture of her. Anyway the story is pretty good, about a stalker following a country singer and ... Maybe ... Trying to kill those around her. It contains some good Deaver twists and turns and surprises. I enjoyed it overall.
Deaver spent too much time discussing his knowledge and thoughts about the music industry. Also it took a stretch of the imagination to accept the all the motives, actions and timing of the "twist" events coincided as they did.

3.5 stars. Overall story was good, but there were so many twists. Then at the end more drama? I hadn’t read the other two books in this series, so it was good to read as a stand alone, I didn’t feel I was missing backstory on Kathryn.
