A cute little novella that gives us more of our favorite couples and mixes the magic of Caraval with the magic of the holidays! I would have loved more Scarlett and Julian, though!

It had nice illustrations...

In all seriousness, this one is ghastly. I am not the biggest fan of the original series, but I was hoping for a quick dose of festive cheer..
  Instead, we have essentially a prolonged kink scene that is laced with more than a bit of dubious consent, but don't worry because she later revealed that she thought throughout that it was *most probably* her boyfriend that had drugged, kidnapped and blindfolded her then forced himself on her..

I love the whole Caraval series and the Universe Garber has created, but I was a little bit dissapointed in the ending on Spectacular as it was quite predictable. However, the illustrations and the vibe were SO beautiful and festive that I would read it again next Christmas ✨

Adorable easy read. I was confused for most of this story, but it worked out quickly at the end. I really thought it was gonna be jacks cause I could not rationalize anyone other than him or legend, but I was wrong! Some parts mentioned in the start were never addressed again, like why they were in a giant snow globe that randomly moves and ships weren’t coming in and that guy with the gingerbread grandma. But if you can overlook some minor random holes in the story and just wanna read it for the cute ness (most of the time) this is a good one.
