Second  the series.   Enjoying getting to know the main characters more. The storyline compelling and kept my interest.  Liking that the creepy guy from the previous book continues in this one.  Kinda wondering if he will be on the entire series or if they will catch him soon?

This book is so disjointed. Numerous characters come and go, some seemingly without any purpose. The main police detective is always angry and our heroine, Frieda, isn’t likeable. The ending is just a set up for the rest of the series.

A cast of very unlikeable people.  The police characters were incompetent and Frieda Kleine has a martyrdom complex.

Even better than Blue Monday, the first in the Freida Klein series. Can't wait for the next installment!

So recap for myself:
A man is founf murdered in thr apartment of a crazy woman who was taking care of him.

Apparently the man impersonated a dead guy and through date he stole from his last job he invades the lives of some of the richer clientele. He listens to them and fakes the same interests as they do. While doing so he takes their money.

We learn that he hides away a woman (Beth) who is his secret weapon. In the end she kills an old woman because he was able to make her change her will to his benefit. She was mentally ill and off her medicin.

Our Robert Poole got murdered by a brother amd sister who were smarter than him. She was a notary and he a financial advisor. They also killed one of his clients and were going to kill the woman who took care of Robert's dead body when they thought she knew too muck. Luckily they got arrested beforehand.

Frieda gets stabbed by Beth but survives only because Dean Reeve (first book) saves her life but only she knows it. He didn't want her to die because he wants to be her undoing.

Excellent series. I like the characters especially Frieda, Karlsson, Josef and Rueben. The main plot was well written. The ongoing side plot is intriguing. I’ll read the next one soon. The reader needs to start with first book as there are many references in second book.

This series features a mysterious main character named Frieda who is an amateur detective using her instincts as a therapist to solve crimes. I appreciate the detailed London setting and her troubled friends and family but this is probably the last one I’ll read. Frieda is so insular and secretive that she ends up being pretty flat as a character. A few clues to her background are thrown in but I’m not curious where it’s going. The procedural aspect is drawn out and as astute as Frieda is it takes her a longgg time to wrap things up.
