I finished this book today, after many recommendations. I love the suspension and adventure throughout the book. Katniss has a very realistic outlook on life and you gain feelings for the characters. I have to recommend this book to readers who love suspension and thrilling story lines.

I can only say that I'm sorry I'm so late to the game in reading this book.
Such a good book from start to finish, and easily the quickest read I've ever done.

What can I say about this book that hasn't already been discussed to death? Collins has produced that most rare and coveted YA novel--a fabulous, engaging story told with intelligence and compassion, that appeals to teens as well as adults. There is no pandering to the teen audience, no talking down to them. Collins has produced a fast-paced well told action adventure with an interesting post-apocalyptic world, and three dimensional characters with depth and soul.
Katniss and her plight will stay with me for some time. The story of her family's struggles, how she worked to help them survive, and her trials in the Hunger Games were engaging stuff indeed.
I was shocked how much I liked it, and damned glad my teenage daughter insisted I read it. A perfect vacation novel!
