I really liked the range of cases explored in the book, but disappointed with how little details are explored. Each case follows the same format, which was helpful, of a brief description followed by the suspects of the case. I did find the speculation interesting but frustrating when not many details were provided in the book.
The book would be a good broad starting point for reading about these cases, but not for any great details.

This book is stunning, so beautifully made. It contains short snippets of some of world's famous unsolved murders, almost all of them are from the 20th century. Some were already familiar to me through either my prior readings or from the news (like the Long Island serial killer). Actually, a professor for my Forensic Science class was an active CSI on that case, so I got the real inside look at the scenes where bodies were found, at the crime photos, etc. This is not a book for someone who is looking to obtain a very detailed account, this is more of an introduction to those cases.

This book was a really interesting read. So many of these cases were left unsolved because of mistakes made by cops at the scenes, or lackluster police investigation. It was a really interesting read, with a lot of information, and was well written in a way so that it was easy to understand and follow.

I felt there was a good balance to well known cases and lesser known cases and that the cases we already knew were fleshed out in new ways. I'm not sure I enjoyed the collage of images rather than displaying them all separately because it was hard for me to see and understand all of them. But, I enjoyed the maps at the end of each section and the case notes. I thought the case notes were a really good addition, since adding them into the narrative would have distracted from the point, but getting to weave them in after added extra depth.

Pretty good beginner’s book. Very shallow depth for each case but a LOT of cases were covered so it makes sense why it wasn’t a deeper look. I liked the variety of cases, especially the variety in time.
