A lot of major new players died in this volume.

Kaneki has separated from his disciples. Are his memories returning???

Tension was high before but it definitely skyrocketed in this volume. I’m scared to see where things go from here

Furuta's ugly face being the cover made me dislike already. But also Reaper Ken is like not as good as I remember?? Idk this volume was just like winding down the last one and setting up the next one without much happening in THIS one. idk if that made sense. k bye!

Ken? Do you have a plan, or did you not change? And what is that ending?

As I'd thought would be the case, I am both
Spoilerhappy that Kaneki is back and sad that Haise is gone
. I am also... rather confused, now, about what's going on with our protagonist. Despite all the scenes that take place in his mind, his motivations are remarkably opaque right now. It produces an interesting effect, though, like he's being eclipsed by his similarity to Arima. Or perhaps, continuing a metaphor that began in the first series, like he's playing a role?

I don't really know where the story is heading, especially with
Spoilerthis V organisation and Eto's publicly coming out as a ghoul
, but I trust Ishida by now... in all matters except introducing even more new characters to try and remember. Ack.

About the revelation that
SpoilerKaneki’s workaholic mother, whom he has described as very loving and selfless, actually hit him when he asked for things
… It makes a perverse kind of sense when I think about Kaneki's personality, but oh my god, did the guy really need more tragic backstory?
