The writing was beautifully immersive. I felt like I was in the book watching the story play out with how things were described. The manipulative dynamic of the relationships definitely warrants a deeper read. I can see myself reading this book again right now. I did enjoy it, and I would love to get a physical copy to remember all the ways love and intimacy was used in order to predate young women.

I love a good monster woman. The vampires in this story balance sexuality, monstrosity, and predatory beauty quite well. Even more, a sickening story of an ancient evil that loves you and possesses you and that might very well be the origin of your house. A story in the point of view of Carmilla would bring me to my knees.

This was a short read but the way it took me by the throat with with interest, it felt like a dark romance. It felt beautifully gothic. It reads so sapphic I would put it in the LGBTQIA+ section.

I went into this only knowing Carmilla as a lesbian vampire icon lol and it certainly had some queer scenes. Idk i guess I was just hoping for a little more umph from this. It was a very short book, tho so maybe my expectations were too high. I enjoyed the recording of this tho from the folks at Re: Dracula.
