The writing is great, being shown a different world is terrific. To my taste, the characters are so intricately and unbelievably connected and intertwined as to stretch the suspension of disbelief far beyond the boundaries of comfort. It's as if you're in a land of magic realism, so it's a fantasy mystery. Different indeed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Harry Hole mystery. It's a good one, and it has ties to a bigger storyline that's lurking in the background. I got sidetracked from reading the rest of the Hole novels last year, but I fully intend on reading them and getting all caught up before the next one is released.

3.5 stars. I loved this book when I started it, but about two-thirds of the way through, things started dragging. I did like the very end of the book (I'm a sucker for a love story) and Harry definitely grew on me in this book. Will definitely read the next one in the series.

I think IF I recommend this series to anyone else, I think it's worth it to skip the books that come before this one and maybe just read a short synopsis of them because this book blows the other ones out of the water!!!

Nail biter, twists and turns, one adrenaline rush after another. Deeply complicated and precisely plotted with so much anticipation, I can't wait for the next one.

Good ol' Harry Hole. I do adore a conflicted and morally challenged detective.

Another good Harry Hole book. I quite like the main character so these seem like dependable books. I wasn't as taken with this one as the Redbreast, but it was still good. I guess my only complaint was that there was a lot of times where it seemed wrapped up and then he pulled out a twist - this is fine if you do it once, but it just felt a little planned since it happened several times. My husband found this the weakest of the series, so assures me the ones that follow are actually better.

Synes ikke egentlig at dette er særlig spennende og engasjerende krim….
