Not my jam. Two strangers decide they're in love after being stuck in a snowstorm together for 2 days. Most of the book was backstory and I didn't care for any of the characters.

What a adventure for Olive. A privileged woman and an IG influencer take off to walk the AT trail. I’m so glad Olive didn’t say yes to the influencer. I loved when Snowbird met Jay. I really enjoyed their time on the trail, and cabin. Then their reunion was perfect.

Pretty straight forward. I liked the characters and I liked the scenarios. Pretty easy read to have in between heavier books.

Happy Trail
Olive and Jay. The first part of this novel is great character development for our complicated heroine, I feel like we really “know” Olive before she meets her Ranger in shining armor. She is on a journey that is yes- a little bit hiding out from her real life, but more so, learning more about herself. When she finally meets up with our grumpy, shy hero, the sparks are instant but this is a true slow burn story. They both are used to hiding parts of themselves from the world. They struggle to open up to one another... but it’s like their souls know that they are their person and must open up.
“She’s my person. I don’t think I imagined loving someone this much.”
The slow burn nature of their story was sweet and appropriate given the timing circumstances. “All we did was hold hands. And it remains one of my favorite moments with him.”
When they finally give in to their feelings, it is all the sweeter. “It’s entirely possible I might not survive the night. Death by pleasure might be the best way to go.”
This was a sweet slow burn, it gives a lot of insight onto the Appalachian Trail (which was a neat byproduct of the novel!) and I loved the quirky characters. I smiled a lot and that’s always a plus!

“Life isn’t about the destination. We all end up at the same place. Love is what gives our journey meaning.”
Happy Trail by Daisy Prescott is another precious gem from the SmartyPants Romance Universe. This story focuses on “The Runaway Fiancée,” Olive Perry, who is hiking the Appalachian Trail alone after a proposal gone wrong and surly park ranger Jay Daniels who is sent to clear hikers from the trail ahead of a winter storm. Sparks fly when the two get trapped in an abandoned moonshiner’s cabin. While the time they spend together is brief, it is significant and life-changing.
This book had a good mix of comedy, romance, charm and depth. I highlighted more passages in this story than I have any book I’ve read in a long time. A couple of my favorites are:
“Why does every girl want to be a mermaid? Or a unicorn? They don’t exist. Be a narwhal if you want a horn. Or a rhino. They’re super cool and couldn’t care less about what other people think of them.”
“A measure of a person’s worth is synchronicity between their words and actions. No one should be judged on the color of their skin or the money they do or don’t have, nor should we bear the weight of our family’s deeds and words.”

Do you like stuck in a spot fall in love romances? Well this is one of the best. The writing is lovely and the characters are so sweet. I cannot wait to read more about the Rangers in this series.
