Abandoned. This isn't for me. I'm not even a quarter of the way in and I'm not feeling compelled to pick up the book when I have time to read.

Sleazy and enjoyable, though the homophobia put a damper on things.

This book is full of 1980s crazy, all the sleaze and ostentatious everything. There are flashbacks and double crosses. This is a long, long book, packed full of debauchery, wonderful escapist reading. This would be a great historical series on netflix, it has that engaging, optimistic over-the-top flair for life and indulgence. This is the right book to start with if you would like to start reading Jackie Collins.

This level smut is not for the faint of heart. The book itself is so dated. It would never pass muster if it were published today. Putting all of that aside, the story itself is fabulous. Weaving the past and present together to culminate in a satisfying ending makes for a very hard to put down-able book.
Huge flashing trigger warnings on this one. And you have to bear in mind when it was written and published. But the actual story? Pure escapist bliss.

GR just recommended this to me because of my latest [a:Kathleen E. Woodiwiss|88445|Kathleen E. Woodiwiss|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1237691529p2/88445.jpg] add and I recalled that I read Jackie Collins (rest her soul) back in high school. I kinda enjoyed it. I don't think I would again.

Everything that I love about romances set in the 80s/90s. The intricate characters that you get invested in with all the treachery, deceit and cunning. And Gino Santangelo...whoever says they don't like him is lying! A mafia boss at his finest. Yes, this was trashy but I couldn't put it down. Now I want to know how Lucky makes her mark...

75% through I just didnt care anymore. It got too soapy. The epilogue was very satisfying though. What a story...
