A Reagan-loving neo-con can’t quite get on her side’s recent hard right turn towards fascism. I was hoping for a deep dive but this reads like a disillusioned Karen eulogizing her former conservative colleagues(ex: Laura Ingraham) as she removes them from her Christmas card list.

If you’re wondering why it’s a big, abhorrent deal a Fox News journalist sat down with Viktor Oban, PM responsible for dismantling democracy in Hungary and creating a state run media, this is a good place to start.

I think Autocracy Inc. is probably the more important one but I haven't read it yet. I had known she was to my right but I didn't realize she was self-described center right until I read this book, so I was really patting myself on the back for exposing myself to different viewpoints here, lol. She did really annoy me and even made me angry sometimes, but there was a lot of common ground as well, and it was interesting to hear how she thinks.

This book had a lot of valuable information about the cyclical nature of societies going through more liberal times and swinging back towards authoritarianism. I appreciated how it covered several different countries and what has led to their current state. There was some awkwardness with the writing, and I don’t think it would be quite as accessible to your average reader who isn’t more in tuned with current politics worldwide, but overall it is a worthwhile lesson, especially at the current moment here in the United States.
