How the hell am I supposed to read about how she fell in love with the boy who sexually assaulted her? And the theme of these kids blaming each other for the shit that their parents did years ago before they were even born is too annoying for me. I'm going to try one of the adult stand-alones and see if they're maybe better than these teenage ones, but I don't have high hopes...

okay, I admit this whole world is entertaining but like a man would never talk to me like that and walk away unscathed. I thought I liked my book boyfriend's toxic but Aiden King.... Jesus Christ. He is the most manipulative character I have ever seen as a love interest and I had to keep reminding myself to stop judging Elsa for being annoying. I feel a little bad but also what the fuck.
Every time he would threaten her, she would fight against it so hard knowing she couldn't win and let him turn her life and her friend's life into chaos and then give in and have sex once it was too much to deal with? I think she either should have let him ruin every time or give in immediately to whatever he said. She always gave in anyway, why not save yourself the trouble? Also consent is like not a thing in the Rina Kent AU which I know goes along with her (if it's not for you, don't read it)
. Aiden was hot but like... scary. I would move out of the country away from someone who acted like him. Like they're first few interactions are literally nightmare fuel but only slightly hot. Elsa and Aiden are both in psychological shambles with some seriously questionable turn ons but it was entertaining. I really never know what's gunna happen in these books and the whole memory loss plot with Elsa and all of Aiden's weirdness, like I need to know what happened. I feel like Aiden could never find someone who accepts him with his craziness like Elsa does, they both are so messed up it works. They terrify me just a little bit. I just can't see Aiden going white picket fence but apparently all Rina Kent couple get happy endings. I enjoyed this but also not at the same time? All RK's books are like anxiety attacks and butterflies all at once.
I did like how Elsa finally stood up for herself to Silver, I can't believe that bitch gets her own story

I can't rate this but I will keep going. Aiden is fascinating in an insane way.

The first thing Iโ€™m going to mention about Deviant King is that itโ€™s a Dark Bully Romance. Not everyone enjoys reading bully romance, but this reader loves these types of books, especially when the FMC puts the bully in his place or ends up falling for the bully because, secretly, heโ€™s been harboring feelings for the girl for so long. The second thing is this book is the first in a trilogy and it needs to be read in order.

Just because I enjoy bully romances in fictional books doesnโ€™t mean I condone bullies in real life. Bullies are a major red flag in real life, but in fictional books, they are acceptable. Rina Kent definitely knows how to write bullies and make me despise them, but the moment they show some good qualities, I fall head over heels for them, especially when I know they are harboring a secret or two.

The FMC, Elsa, is someone I felt sympathy for immediately, not only because the MMC, Aiden, made her life miserable at school but also because she possibly has a traumatic past that is hidden from her. She lost her parents and is now living with her Aunt and Uncle, who are very protective of her, especially when she had heart surgery and is still dealing with a heart condition. She has nightmares about her past that give her glimpses into what perhaps happened, but not enough to go on. She just wants to finish school and go off to Cambridge afterward, but unfortunately, her nemesis, Aiden has other plans. I loved how she fought back against Aiden and wasnโ€™t willing to give in to him. Eventually, though, she does give in and thatโ€™s due to him showing another side of himself.

Aiden was a downright a-hole to Elsa, and he tended to grate on my nerves while reading Elsaโ€™s POV on what he and his minions were doing to her. (FYIโ€ฆThis book is told solely in Elsaโ€™s POV.) Some of the things were crossing the line a lot, but I had to remember itโ€™s a Dark Romance, which means Aiden is going to push the boundaries. (Check your triggers before reading this book.) But I knew deep down Aiden had a soft side, or in his case, a very jealous and possessive side toward Elsa.

โ€œIf anyone dares to look at you, let alone touch whatโ€™s mine, Iโ€™ll fucking murder them. Is that clear?โ€
He had kept guys away from her for two years, and whenever someone else approached her, he would take action against them, including his friends, such as Xander, who tried to rile up Aiden when it came to Elsa.

โ€œAre you jealous, mighty king?โ€ โ€œDamn straight Iโ€™m jealous. Iโ€™m so possessive of you, it drives me fucking crazy.โ€
Aiden and Elsaโ€™s relationship is very complicated, especially when Elsa doesnโ€™t trust Aiden and she is not willing to give in to his advances at first, and Aiden wonโ€™t accept no as an answer and pushes her constantly. But, when it does finally happen between the two, itโ€™s intense, deviant (like the title suggests), and off-the-charts steamy.

I was definitely drawn to the mystery behind Elsaโ€™s past, and I need to know what happened to her. It was only touched a bit in this book with her nightmares, so Iโ€™m hoping Rina touches more on it in the next book. Aiden is harboring something, and I need to find out more about what he is hiding about himself. I hope I also get his POV, eventually, in the trilogy. I would love to know his true feelings about Elsa, especially with how this book ended. Yes, there is a cliffhanger, and it left me with more questions than answers. I need to make time to read the next book, already and I will soon.

This book is definitely for readers who love dark bully romances where the MMC is unhinged, obsessed with the FMC, and willing to do anything to have her as his.

The early chapters having a prolonged scene where the MMC sexually assaults the FMC is making me nope out. And from reading reviews, it seems that she later
retcons and has a whole
Inner monologue about how she actually was into itโ€ฆdespite the fact that sheโ€™s literally being physically restrained and groped by her bully
Also I know itโ€™s common for the subgenre, but the whole super powerful teenager shtick was already making me cringe.
