Finishing the series, but I kinda wish it was only 3 books.. this one dragged on and I’m iffy on the next one

I really tried to will myself to finish this series, but I eventually ended up abandoning it despite being so close to the end. It is really not a bad series at all, and it is quite ok if you just want to read some easy fantasy to pass time. However, I have to admit the plot was getting rather predictable, and due to the so many clichés, I ended up already quite expecting the next course of action. It didn't help that I was also constantly right in my preductions, which made the reading experience a bit boring for me.
I would say the following in the end: read it if you are just searching for an easy enemies to lovers fantasy series with quite some interesting spice and a quite acceptable magic system and world. But do not start this series expecting highly complex characters, hugely developed bonds between the characters, or a too complex action.

Truly- after reading three books by this author, I can unequivocally say I would read a retelling of the phone book if she wrote it! Absolutely one of my favorite authors. Each book in this series just gets better than the last.

Cassia is fierce, fighting through her personal emotional demons, but determined to right the destruction her family has caused to their world. Elander is completely swoon worthy - a God of Death with a gentle heart.

I devoured this series!

There have been so many developments with the characters and the plot that my head is spinning (in a good way!).

This book ended on a major cliffhanger!!
