I have loved this series so much, but this one was a road block on a highway. Pacing was really off and so different from the previous books. Aspects of the plot felt repetitive, and lost its mystical enticement.

Pain. So much pain. The first two thirds of the book is somewhat slow, but so much happens in the last third. There are so many beautiful moments in this book. I don’t even know what to say. I’m thoroughly enjoying this series.

“Just once, I want to spend a morning with you that doesn't end with us slaying divine beasts and trying to save the world.”
"That sounds dreadfully boring.”
"Yes, but in the best possible way."
What to expect:
✔️ Enchanting world-building
✔️ Soulmates
✔️ Gods/goddesses
✔️ Unique magic system
✔️ Political intrigue
✔️ Epic battles
✔️ Immaculate spice
✔️ Found family with witty banter
✔️ Painful cliffhanger
✔️ Protective MMC that is so perfect it hurts
✔️ A determined and feisty FMC who will do anything to protect the ones she loves
Wow. Ok, I’m going to need a minute to recover. That. Ending. I need book 5 right now because that ending destroyed me and I need it to be made right.
"I think we need to experiment," she said.
The smile that crossed his face caused another flutter in her chest.
"You know I'm always up for experimenting with you."
Casia has finally taken her rightful place on the throne and accepted her crown and it’s responsibilities. However, her new rule isn’t without opposition or difficulty. Divine beings have more freedom throughout the lands than ever and constantly hamper her efforts for peace. Cas throughout the past four books has instilled herself as one of my all-time favourite heroines, alongside my SJM favs, Dynala from Divine Blood series, and Tisaanah from Daughter of No Worlds. She is just so determined, resilient and selfless. And I cannot wait to see how things come together in the end.
"My name is the only one that will be on your lips.”
Ahhh Elander. How you have completely shattered my standards for men forever. His growth from book 1 until now is staggering. And after reading this book, I honestly could not love this character more if I tried. He is everything.
Cas and Elander are the ultimate soulmates. I just adore them. Praying for a HEA for them after all they’ve been put through, otherwise I’ll riot.
Zev, Nessa, Rhea and Laurent (and of course Silverfoot) are incredible characters that add so much warmth to the overall story. I have loved the found family elements throughout the past books and this one is no exception.

I’ve been dragging my feet on finishing this series because I’m just not ready to say goodbye to Casia yet. 😅
This was probably my least favorite book so far, but I still did enjoy it quite a bit. I think it served an important purpose in the story. You get a lot of waiting, you get a lot of lore, you get a lot of puzzles. And there’s quite a bit of action as well. You also got to see a lot of calm and peace which let’s be real these poor souls haven’t had much of that.
However the last 100 pages really took me for a ride and now I will be diving into the final book immediately.
I said what I said on my 50% update. Don’t speak to me until Casia and Elander have their happy ending.
