I received this book as part of my "once upon a book club" membership. I do not think I would've picked it out of an array of books, but I am so glad that I received and read the book. What an incredible story about 4 young women who come together and not only get to know each other but also to learn about themselves. Each storyline was unique, jet somehow each of them went or is going through their own type of tough times and have to fight their demons within.
I highly recommend this book. It is a wonderful, easy read that still has depth and great character development. There was not one chapter or page in which I felt like I want the plot to speed up or the book to end. On the contrary, I wanted more time with the characters to get to know them better!

well written and romance was not the primary plot line which is what I don't like about a lot of YA novels.

I loved this book. A delightful and fast-paced read that will leave you wanting more. The characters were all distinct and faced issues that they set out to overcome. Full of good feelings and the magic of coming together and forming friendships to last a lifetime. I felt the book read a little younger than I was expecting, but it wasn’t off-putting at all. In fact, I feel like it makes it more appropriate for an even younger starting audience. Girls of July shows that people aren’t always what they seem, and taking chances, getting out of your comfort zone, can change your life for better.

Cuuuuutte. So cute that on a day where I planned on reading a ton of books for a sales meeting I read the entirety of this nearly 500-page tome. The characters read a little young but this is just purely sweet. A little bit of a Traveling Pants feel.

This was a fun YA summer read about friendship and finding your inner strength. I liked how each girl had their own voice and their personalities came through. I enjoyed it

I thought this would be cute, light summery novel about female friendship, and it was to an extent. The "Girls of July" were a diverse group with compelling backstories and relatable anxieties. While their relationships were well-developed and central to the story, there was a romance plot as well that I felt took away from that emotional core since it took up a third of the book. Additionally, it was a little overly-cheesy, even for me, with the campfire singalongs and grandma long-lost romance.

I liked all of the storylines in this by themselves, but I wished more of the book had been about the 4 girls and their relationship instead of their relationships with other people. I also feel like the characters could’ve been much better developed - they seemed very flat and had much more potential. I did like the appendixes at the end, though, they added a bit more originality to the characters.
I did like the overall premise and the first half or so of the book - everyone getting together and trying to get along was interesting and I wish they hadn’t split off into different smaller plots. And the ending was very predictable and anticlimactic. The writing also seemed pretty juvenile and over-simplified, which is sometimes a pattern in YA books. You don’t need to oversimplify your writing to make it appeal to YA okay?
Overall not a bad summer read but not great writing and could’ve been executed much better.

A good summer read
I loved seeing the four girls come together. At first they are strangers, but I loved seeing them bond. It was a lot of fun, but there was still depth to it.

i don't have the energy for a full review but this was such a cute and heartwarming book. i would absolutely read a sequel or just a way longer version of this book to see what the girls (and ruthie!) got up to after the main events of the story. i will say that the ending with britta's injury seemed somewhat out of place and that it seemed like something was going on between britta and spider, but i suppose i can accept them just being really close friends. overall this was just a nice, easy, sweet read
