Between Mischeif and Magic is a cozy romance novel following Rei and Amora on the adventure to get Amora's magic back and ultimately overthrow her parents reign as King and Queen. The lack of magic makes Amora quite sickly so if you're touchy about chronic illness keep that in mind. I also like the feeling of being sick and the quest being too much really puts Amora in a dark spot in her mind. Rei is great at being her strength and helping Amora through these times, but it's still something to keep in mind as a potential trigger if you fall down those rabbit holes.

I feel like this novel is very open ended in a way? It's left me to ponder what Rei's life was like prior to her and Amora meeting. As well as what the epilouge would be years down the line. How Amora's reign of power develops. It's just one of those stories that has you itching for more even though you know it's a one shot and won't have a follow up to Amora x Rei's story.

Overall I really enjoyed this book as a New Adult, closed door romance with easy-to-follow world building. Great for a #yareader looking to venture into #newadultormance.

I had fun reading this! But I also thought the plot was pretty 1-dimensional, and it rarely felt like they were really facing any real adversity (
the only time it really did was when they were with the witches and Rei was stealing souls to save Amora - I wish their reconciliation after that had been a little more flushed out/less one-sided though
). That in of itself isn't the biggest deal cause the book did read more romance than fantasy (would've been nice though), but with that in mind, I would've liked the romantic payoff to be a little more satisfying, and maybe have a little spice. All that being said, they are cute together, and I did enjoy reading this!
