I’ve always been a fan of Miss Marple books, but Poirot is starting to grow on me. I certainly did not see the twist in this one coming. A great mystery, all right. Highly highly recommend.

I liked this one! It was a simple read, and I wanted to know how Poirot would solve it. I docked a point because I thought the ending/murderer was a bit far-fetched, but whatever. Still a good read!

Enjoyable in many ways. It's a pretty outlandish story, but the murder mystery is entertaining, and the narrator (an uptight English nurse) is funny.

A fun little murder mystery with a great narrator purely for what a fallible and occasionally nasty person she is even while retaining her innocence and not making you exactly hate her (though you might come close, as with all the light racism and xenophobia she occasionally displays). A small tale, not as ground-breaking as my favourite Christie novels, and it was around the mid-way point I understood that I had read it once before, a long time ago, and still probably owned the book, a gift from a person I had done some gardening work for, a nice older lady with a well-stacked library around her workspace, who showed it with pride when I had asked her during lunch if she read, and gave me the book, a token of her love for crime. She is dead, some years now, a sad thought that lingers and I can't let go, despite the little I knew of her, and the book is within my memory of her and that work that I did not much like, but is a part of me now.

Anyhow, memory is fallible enough that I didn’t quite remember how the story ended so it was still a thrill to follow Poirot lower onto his prey and I quite enjoyed the book still. Wouldn’t mind another go with another Christie soon.

Delightful fun. Some of the language is dated of course because it was written in a different time but as a story it’s gripping and exciting.

The first Agatha Christie book I read was a gift from my dad and ever since them I have been obsessed with her books specially the Hercule Poirot series so I jump at every chance I have to read one of her books.

In Murder in Mesopotamia we follow Amy, a nurse who agrees to look after American archaeologist Dr. Leidner’s wife Louise at a dig near Hassanieh, but she finds herself taking on more than just nursing duties – she also has to help solve murders.

Like most of Agatha Christie´s books, this book was fast paced (I read it in two days), entertaining and very atmospheric. The characters are great, I adore Hercule Poirot, I admire how clever he is and how you never know what he is thinking or what he is going to do next. The other characters are great as well, I specially loved nurse Amy and Louise. Most of the secondary characters are kind of annoying but I guess that is the point, that you hate almost everyone that you suspect them all.

This book is amazing and even though it was written so many years ago, this book, as most of Agatha´s work, stood the test of time. I actually had goosebumps while reading this, it was very atmospheric and the writing was outstanding. There were so many times I thought I had it all figure out just to find out how wrong I was. I did not see the plot twist coming, but now that I think about it the author does hint at the plot twist since the beginning, which even though it was right in front of me I wasn’t able to call it.

Overall, this was a solid, amazing Agatha Christie book that I enjoyed reading. It kept me intrigued and had me guessing everything. I cannot wait to read more from Agatha Christie because I am blown away by how good and intricate the plot is, and even though you never see the end coming, in the end, after you think about and put you grey cells to work, it all makes sense.
