I enjoyed Maxwell, an awkward fish out of water in a small Texas town. Royce, the sheriff, was even better. They're almost polar opposites—Royce is a people-person—but Royce understands Max. The mystery was interesting and the romance was nice. It ended on a cliffhanger, but lucky for me I've got 6 books to read.

There were some odd writing moments but otherwise, it wasn't bad.

Although I mainly read strictly romance, I have to say I enjoyed Strange Medicine and getting to know Maxwell and Royce in this book. Maxwell is as strait-laced as they come, but when he moves to a small town that in every way is a completely opposite way of living to his personality, the intrigue starts even before the murder happens. I found I couldn't put the book down once I started. A wonderful read!!
