I found this episode of Stephanie's evolution as a bounty hunter slightly anticlimactic. She didn't get the FTA (technically) and a couple of the loose strings were less than ideally tied. Only loosely tied, but still it was not as satisfying as I could have wished.

I figure since this book came out over 13 years ago, spoilers don't count, so I'm not going to put this under a cut, but at least a warning.

Stephanie is still terrible at her job, goes through cars more often than she buys tanks of gas, but at least she FINALLY BANGED RANGER. Unfortunately we only got a paragraph of explanation, which does not do justice to his apparent sexiness. (For the record, I'm still Team Cupcake.)
This one did feel a bit different, as she wasn't money-driven to solve the case. It does lend her a bit more... humanity?

Definitely fun! Not high art, but a trashy good time. Sometimes I'm embarrassed by how much I love this series. They are definitely a guilty pleasure. I picked it up with no expectations and like most of Evanovich's books found this to be the best approach. If all you are looking for is a fast paced, raunchy and fluffy read this is definitely a good series to pick up.

Typical Evanovich - a good distraction but nothing spectacular. Still love the characters, but the pace of the plot felt off to me towards the end. The actual ending was a bit anti-climactic.
Still, the series is great fluffy read.

Stephanie Plum is a sitting duck in book eight, chased by a rabbit, a bear, and some vicious humans. She didn't chase anyone this time herself, which was disappointing.
It's easier to be a sitting duck than a bond enforcement agent, feels like the whole idea of this book was to tie some loose ends from the previous 7 and release the tension. It's a disappointing 4, rather than a satisfying one, but still a good book.
