I love this series. I own all the Audible books and somehow managed to wait a few months after release to start it… but then it was in my ear as much as I could get.
Another great installment, even if I didn’t like that they (spoiler!!) needlessly killed someone I loved! (It wasn’t needless, necessarily, I just didn’t like that part- I had to pause and cry it out!) Pike, Jennifer, and the team to the rescue again!
As an aside, I’d love to see a spin off with that guy Pike was talking to in the last scene…
If you’re a fan of Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp, Brad Thor’s Scot Harvath, or …I forget the author, but Jericho Quinn- then you’ll love this series. Pike reminds me of Jack Bauer, and even though 24 is (OMG) over 22 years old at this point, he’s still my favorite TV character.

Great addition to the Pike Logan series. Brad Taylor continues to write compelling novels. I wish Brad Thor and Kyle Mills/Vince Flynn would learn from Mr. Taylor. Brad Taylor does not rest on his laurels, he continues to challenge himself and not write on reputation alone.
The ransonware plot is scary with the Zero Click ability. Maybe we should all simply unplug.
Keep up the great work!!

The Devil's Ransom by Brad Taylor hits the store early in 2023 and it hit me in December of 2022. This is one of the best books ever in the Pike Logan series and one of two books by this author that makes me want to visit some place, I already had the hometown of Grolier recovery on my list of places to visit but now I have to add Croatia. This has nothing to do with GOT, I just want some ice cream. I love the problems and solutions in this book and it is filled with some of the best complicated situations that Pike and Jennifer faced. I really can't recommend this book enough but make sure to get a copy and enjoy the ride. Now I'm waiting for Brad to release his book on desserts. Maybe one of places to visit as well, I loved the photos from your research trip. I am very glad I got the opportuniy to read this book and thank Edelweiss, William Morrow and Harper Collins for approving me and Brad Taylor you sure wrote a great one.
As many fellow fans of the genre has said this and the way Brad Taylor’s writing goes in future also many fans will say irrespective of many new authors ‘He is a force to be reckoned with. The titular character Pike Logan is one of the best written characters in this genre. Be the way he leads the team from one crisis to another or the way he has moments with his family whether it’s Jennifer or Amena or teammates. It’s always wholesome to read about it. In my opinion more than any author Brad Taylor is the one who wrote a strong female character well before than other authors and he still rocks in that department. Personally this novel for me it’s kind of lacked in action scenes especially Gun Battles. Still the moments are there that shows that brilliance at the same time quick wits of the author. Some the unexpected scenes between characters especially the conversation between them like Pike and Amena are pure gold standard in writing area. Since you guys would’ve now read the plot in one of many places. All I can say is as usual Brad Taylor gave his best and I’m eagerly waiting for his next book .
What a great outing for Taskforce. I wasn’t sure going into this installment that this had the making of a classic story, but I was wrong.
It had a really good central objective in the stopping of the ransomware attacks on both Blaisdell and the shuttle, but, on the side, avenging Carly’s death was a good side plot. I liked Carly. She wasn’t Taskforce, but she almost was and that says a lot about her importance to the team. Knuckles especially took it hard, but Jennifer too was broken up about it.
I also love how they continue the tradition of introducing folks who aren’t the main baddies now, but eventually will be. It’s a good table setting move and speaks to the longevity of the series.
All in all, this is a pretty good book in the series and I consider a great stepping stone to future installments.
