There were certainly some parts of this book that have not aged well but I was struck by how engaging it was. I loved the I Love Lucy aspect and the descriptions really took me to a specific place. A place that almost felt real. The imigrant experience felt honest and upfront. In general it was a fun, sexy read.

If I hadn’t read this book for class it would be 1 star. It’s 200 pages too long and I hated 90% of the plot as well as the writing but thematically it’s a work of art. Hate the words, love the ideas.
