Great long build up to a hurried finish. Most of the time I didn't know what was going on.

This one was weak as far as Scarpetta books go. The pace was slow and Kay spent too much time talking about how alone and disconnected she felt. I would not recommend this one.

Originally, Cornwell was a creative and innovative author. Her original Scarpetta novel was fantastic and it was about solving the murder. Slowly, it became about Scarpetta (now more brooding and self-involved) saving the world. After you save the world, what's left? Why to work in the private sector surrounded by amazingly difunctional friends and family and then to become more self-involved!
Cornwell's last book ("The Scarpetta Factor") was a redemption. And then we have this book. The writing is fine, the story interesting, but Scarpetta is full of self-doubt and this leaves her maudlin. Everyone is keeping secrets from her and that is NOT who Kay Scarpetta has grown into being. It seemed... forced. "Port Mortuary" was an okay read if disjointed and oftentimes vague. Cornwell's earlier Scarpetta books are by far better, but this isn't the worst of the lot either.

Disappointing. This book was tedious. This made it very difficult for me to want to finish it. After weeks of avoiding the book, I finished it. I can honestly say that it wasn’t worth.

A bit disappointed with this. Her earlier books are better.

While Normally I like Kay, in this book I just felt there were this huge gaps that took FOREVER to clear up. Plus all the technology stuff was just way to much. So glad Cornwall finally killed off Fielding and Jamie Berger is gone from Lucy's life. Two very annoying characters gone. Wish she'd kill Morino off... I also wasn't thrilled that Benton is keeping secrets from Kay again...

I'm having a really really hard time getting into this book. I am a pretty fast reader, but I am struggling with this one. Not sure I'll get it done before it's due back at the library! Update: I never did finish this book. It was boring from the get-go so I never got into it. For some reason the writing seemed really awkward...
