didn't "read" this, but read over the introduction, and all of the subject headings- the recipes of course are good, but i like his suggestions for organization and cooking every day.

A great resource, but I throw my allegiance to "The joy of Cooking." Nonetheless it's still a worthy collection, and if you own this book I hope it's covered in flour and has sticky pages.

I am loving this cookbook. The introduction and opening chapters make so much sense. I can't wait to get cooking!

Cookbook club title. A great resource for new cooks; much more accessible than the Joy of Cooking. A few techniques I want to try.

Ironically, this book comes nowhere close to telling you how to cook everything. In fact, I have found that it doesn't cover some pretty basic stuff. But, I do love Mark Bittman, and the recipes that are included are pretty good.

This is not Bittman's "How to Cook Everything: Vegetarian," the gigantic hardback. (Imagine my surprise, as that was what I had intended to borrow.) This book is very slender, and seems more like an introduction to vegetarian cooking than something for someone who is an occasional meat eater. To me, this is primarily geared toward new vegetarians and the people who cook for them.
