I’m not a big fan of audiobooks, but I believe The Hobbit is truly better when listened to. Rob Inglis’s version is absolutely delightful. It’s like listening to your grandfather and JRR Tolkien himself reading to you. He also sings all the songs beautifully. I caught myself smiling several times just from how enjoyable his voice was.
I will say that this is a slow-paced fantasy. It is light and drags at times. I struggled about halfway through. However, the writing is beautiful. I have yet to watch any of the movies so this was my first time experiencing this world at all. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the Lord of the Rings books.
